About 2 km in circumference. The place where the Shimanto River and the Yusuhara River meet, called "Taisho". This area once thrived with the forestry industry and was bustling with people, but now it is a quiet town with little foot traffic.
Despite its small size, there are many attractions, such as the Kumano Shrine, founded in the Kamakura period, and the famous chestnut shochu distillery, Mutemuka. The town, surrounded by mountains and filled with the scent of cypress, offers a therapeutic experience just by walking through it.
I, Yusuke Ono, was charmed by Taisho and moved here. Would you like to join me for a walk?
Chat with the neighbors, gaze at the river, and enjoy the leisurely flow of time.
Concept
Just a 10-second walk from JR Tosa-Taisho Station. The rooms feature ample use of local cedar and cypress. Surrounded by many elements that let you fully experience Shimanto, it’s a place where you can enjoy your journey in the leisurely and rich flow of time. There are also plenty of books in the shared space. Why not become friends with Shimanto?

I organize seasonal events throughout the year. In spring, there's a market held in a vacant shop on the shopping street; in summer, a jazz concert is held on the shrine grounds; in winter, soba noodles are served on New Year's Eve.
Additionally, I involve the local government and high schools in community activities, so if you're interested, feel free to discuss with me, and you can experience a variety of activities.
If you wish, we can also organize a community event together during your stay.

Reviews
The two-week homestay was a great opportunity to work and enjoy the local culture.
I spent mornings and afternoons focusing on my remote work and evenings relaxing at a local izakaya.
On the weekends, we had the opportunity to explore the neighbourhood and participate in the Shimotsui Festival held in a village a short distance away, giving us a valuable experience of the local culture.
I had a vague aim: to learn about different ways of life and about the primary industry. I stayed here for a few days.
Mr Ono, or people who are introduced me by Mr Ono are so nice and kind and I was able to spend a very fulfilling time.
I will be back there again.
I was anxious about my first homestay,
but my host, Mr Ono, was very kind.
I was able to spend a fulfilling month.
My host has a wide network of contacts and friends,
so he allowed me to get to know many people in the town.
I had the opportunity to experience many different things.
I feel very happy to be able to spend time in Shimanto's rich nature and surrounded by warm people!
It is a place where you will feel like you want to come back!
