Farmer’s House in Chigasaki
5.0
(1件)Local Characteristics
It will be fresh in your mind that in 2020, products made from wheat and soybeans were not available in supermarkets due to a temporary delay of food imports caused by Covid. In response to this situation, I felt that we should think more seriously about fields and food, and decided to move to Chigasaki with my farm.
Concept
We grow vegetables with the aim of creating the world in which everyone can eat safe and reliable vegetables. In addition to growing vegetables, we are also working to change the agricultural and food situation in Japan by working together with our neighbors and volunteers who come from all over the region to support our farm.
3 Key Points
1Host’s introduction
Currently, in addition to producing and selling vegetables, I am working to communicate the importance of food and the food situation in Japan through agriculture.
2You can interact with people like this!
Chigasaki is a wonderful place to enjoy both the ocean and mountains. You can easily go everywhere by bicycle and enjoy marine sports such as surfing. In addition, you can interact with people of various occupations and ages, including farmers in the area.
3You can experience like this!
We grow vegetables using the natural farming method. We hope you will feel the genuine shape and taste of the vegetables. During your stay, we would like you to help us mainly with farm work. We would also be happy to cook with you using the harvested vegetables and talk about the future of agriculture. Of course, those with no farming experience are also welcome to join us!

Reviews
Our host family was one man who worked in no-till farming, but he allowed us to meet many different people.
We were treated to lots of delicious food and they were really kind to us.
On the first day, we not only talked about no-till farming and the relationship between agriculture and the environment, but also had in-depth discussions about the current situation in Japan (politics, etc.), how we should live in such a world, how we should create the future, etc.
After that, I basically helped my host family with farm work in their fields.
It was stimulating and interesting because I worked with different people every day!
If you have an interest in agriculture and environmental issues then this is perfect for you! It's even better if you're not shy and can have a good conversation with any person, and if you like minorities, it's even better.
The house is close to a train path, so you may find the noise of the train very loud and uncomfortable... Apart from that, I was very satisfied!
