5.0
(6件)Local Characteristics
We run a free range poultry farming in a rural by the sea in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture. In spring and summer, my husband goes skin diving to catch natural seafood from the Japanese sea. There is a secluded ocean just a short distance from the house, and a beach house is open only in the summer.
Concept
We are doing a reuse house, a house that is like an experiment in living by making use of someone’s unneeded items.
3 Key Points
1Host’s introduction
We live in a family of a couple in 30's, a 5 and 6 year old son, and a male cat. Wife, myself, was a backpacker in my twenties, traveling around like living at each spots in Japan and abroad.
2You can interact with people like this!
We also accept agricultural volunteers, so you may share with many different people. There is also an open closet where everyone brings their clothes and you are free to use those clothing. There are also opportunities to interact with various interesting local people. Please come and experience a reuse house that brings someone's unneeded items to life, and a life of circulation.
3You can experience like this!
We run a free range poultry farm (all year round), skin diving fishing (spring and summer), and beach teahouse (summer only). You are also welcome to help with the circular agriculture (free range poultry farm and fields) and beach house! If you wish, you can also experience chicken and boar dismantling.

Recommendations
Little spice in your daily life! Let's exchange life experiences.♪ In the summer, we run a beach house and it gets very busy. We recommend someone who can build a beach house with us or stand in the store during the summer. 3 meals are included, but in the summer, meals will be more of what we serve at the beach house. Also, it is a country house, so there will be bugs. Recommended for people who don't mind the small details!

Reviews
My child and I took the local bus to the science museum, hot springs and fruit orchard.
My child took part in it on a bus and train outing with just local children.
We had a very productive week.
The host family was busy all day working at the beach house, but they made time to take us to the onsen.
There was a cook in the same inn where I was staying.
He and they together treated me to a bonfire meal of whole roasted boar and chickens, as well as delicious dishes with freshly caught oysters, fish and vegetables.
Thank you very much!
I participated in the event because I wanted to learn about poultry farming and how to handle chickens.
I also had the opportunity to play games and table tennis with primary school children, something I don't normally
get involved with.
I was able to interact with local people.
I was able to be involved in a community development event with university students who had just gathered.
I experienced many things and had a very exciting week.
I was also taught the concept of SHINDOFUNI (you cannot separate the results of your previous actions from the environment that your body relies on), which is to feed on local resources, have eggs laid and consume them in the community.
At the drinking sessions with migrants and local people, everyone was very much in line with what they love to do, which is very nice and I thought I would like to live like that too.
Thank you very much!
My stay was short - only a week - but I helped with poultry farming. I wrung and processed chickens, cut wood with a chainsaw and made salt from seawater.
I think I had a variety of experiences, such as playing Smash Bros. NINTENDO SWITCH on 64 (released in 1996) with energetic children.
Among these experiences, what particularly impressed me was the personality and way of life (IKIZAMA) of the adults who came to visit the hosts.
I vividly remember the smiles and laughter of the adults who seemed to be enjoying their lives, even though they were not on the 'prepared rails' of going to university, working at a company and competing to get ahead.
I realised that Japan is a big country!
I had no plans during the university's winter break, so I decided to take part because I wanted to.
My hosts were willing to accommodate me, even though they were busy at the end of the year.
The hosts had a slapstick lifestyle, which overturned my image of a relaxed life in the countryside.
They run a chicken hot pot catering business at the end of the year, serving chickens that have been slaughtered by them.
We played with their children, went for walks, went to the nearby sea and were shown their poultry farm.
One of the most memorable experiences was the community at the chicken hotpot business trip. Their neighbours got together and had a friendly meal with about 10-20 people, and there was a warm atmosphere.
Its participants included people who run cafés, foreigners who work remotely and share a house, Japanese people,
people who work close to each other and travelling cooks.
It was a very new space for me.
This experience was new to me and the space was warm and relaxing.
The hosts have a philosophy of using what is available, and I felt again that we are lacking that kind of spirit, both in terms of food and in terms of things.
Thank you very much! (20s / female / December / 1 week)
I help out at the beach house run by the host couple and am taken to various places by people I met there.
At the beach house I felt the festive atmosphere with events taking place every day!
Every day I could see, touch and think with my own eyes, and I felt that a new world was expanding inside me!
(20s / Female / Stayed in August / 1 month)
First time in the countryside I had only lived in the city all my life, and because I was in a paid position and had a large amount of time off, I chose to 'live in the countryside', which I had never experienced before.
That was very impressive because I caught, strangled, processed and ate the chickens myself, the whole process.
It was a valuable experience for me to once again feel how we live.
Other activities included fishing, picking up rubbish from the sea and logging, I also had many other experiences of being in contact with nature, such as fishing, picking up rubbish from the sea, logging, and campfires.
But the most enjoyable experience of all was that my hosts introduced me to many friends and we had drinking parties.
I was able to learn a lot about the local area.
I could feel again how much fun it is for people to connect with each other.
We also had two children, so we got to experience living with them.
I thought it was pleasant that the air was different from Tokyo, with people not asking for anything in return from others, but just trying to have a good time together.
They told me to come to Kaga as if I were at a relative's house, and in the end I really felt that way, and I have been coming back to Kaga ever since.
My hosts introduced me to all kinds of people, they were generous with their time for me and they really treated me like I was their family.
